JUNE 4: The Parliamentary Election Amendment Act 2003 and the Parliamentary Election Amendment Rules 2003 passes the Senate.

JUNE 9: Governor Sir John Vereker signs legislation to introduce 36 single-seat constituencies; The Parliamentary Election Amendment Act 2003 and the Parliamentary Election Amendment Rules 2003

JUNE 10: Premier announces she is asking the Governor to prorogue Parliament and call a general election on July 24.

June 11 or 12: Governor will issue writ for election, then voters have a further seven days to register.

JULY 8: Closing date for candidate nominations.

July 17 at earliest: Pre-poll for electors who will be on holiday or are incapacitated to vote.

JULY 24: Election day.
