Laws go live

Telecommunications and E-Commerce Minister Renee Webb said the new website 'Bermuda Laws Online' had more than 1,500 page views in the three previous days, even though the official opening of the site was not until yesterday.

In her ministerial statement to the House of Assembly on Friday, Ms Webb said the website contained all legislation in the 'Revised Laws of Bermuda' volumes, all new and amending legislation to the present day, and will be continually updated as laws are changed and amended.

Ms Webb said: "I encourage the wider community to browse the site for themselves and share in my excitement at the way technology can directly benefit all in Bermuda."

She said the website, www.Bermudalaws.bm, and the E-Tax initiative, where payroll tax payers will be able to pay online, were examples of the Government's commitment to use technology for Bermuda.

Ms Webb added that the E-Business National Plan will be published for public viewing and feedback both in Bermuda and abroad.
