Lawyer in 'stable' condition

Victoria Pearman

Defence lawyer Victoria Pearman was said to be in a stable condition last night in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Ms Pearman's participation in the ongoing Jamal Hart drug importation trial was halted this week due to her health problems. Fellow defence lawyer Charles Richardson told the court on Thursday that she had been taken to KEMH with chest pains and was being kept in for observation.

By yesterday, rumours were circulating in legal circles that her condition was so serious that she had been flown off-Island for treatment. However, a hospital spokesperson said last night that Ms Pearman was still at KEMH and in a stable condition. Mr. Richardson took over Ms Pearman's duties in the trial on Thursday although he too was unable to attend court on Friday due to ill health. The case is set to resume on Monday .
