Machete-armed robbers steal man?s cash and drugs
Three machete-wielding robbers held a man at knifepoint before stealing an unknown quantity of drugs from his Wellington Slip Road, St. George?s home, Police said last night.
The robbers were able to gain entry to a 33-year-old, St. George?s man?s home at around 12.40 a.m. on Sunday.
?He heard a knock on his door,? Police said.
?When he asked who it was a familiar voice answered, so he opened the door. The man standing at the door, an acquaintance of the St. George?s man, pushed the door open wider while two other men wearing dark clothing, masks, gloves and carrying machetes entered the house.?
?The men searched the residence while the acquaintance watched over the 33-year-old victim, also brandishing a machete.
?They removed cash, jewellery, two cellular phones and a quantity of drugs before making good their escape,? Police said.
When questioned, Police said they were not prepared to comment on either the quantity of the drugs, or the drug-type that was stolen from the St. George?s man?s home.
However, the robbers were caught shortly after crossing the Causeway, however, Police said.
?As a result of information received, the suspects were apprehended a short time later on Wilkinson Avenue in Hamilton parish. The occupants of the car ? three men ranging in age from 19- to 30-years-old ? were arrested on suspicion of robbery, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained.
?The vehicle, a dark-coloured Nissan March was impounded and all of the stolen property was recovered.
?Inquiries into this incident are underway,? Police said.
