Bermuda has received positive international publicity in recent months according to the Department of Communication and Information (DCI)., , , and all featured Bermuda within the the last two months.

With a combined circulation of over a million readers, the publicity is ?great exposure for the Island?, Minister of Tourism Renee Webb said.

Bermuda was voted one of the 2004 Best Shopping Destination in ?s annual Best of the Caribbean Awards featured in the April 2004 issue. The magazine also featured an article in its June/July issue on Bermuda?s ?return to splendour after the effects of Hurricane Fabian?, the DCI reported.

The seven-page feature, ?Bermuda Back in the Pink? said: ?the Island has regained its original legendary gentility, calm and poise, less than eight months after its worst storm in 50 years.?

It continued: ?The Island has invested much energy and time into ameliorating the tourism industry.?, a leading travel magazine, featured Bermuda in the ?Word of Mouth? section of their July issue.

The article highlighted Bermuda?s progress since Hurricane Fabian, including specific mentions of the property updates at the Pink Beach Club and Elbow Beach.

The cover of the travel section of Monday?s a New Jersey newspaper, featured Bermuda after the Department of Tourism had hosted writer Betty Lowry on the Island.

Bermuda?s public transportation system is highlighted in the story as a ?valuable option for getting around the Island?.is an important publication for the meetings industry, which recently featured a positive, in-depth article on Bermuda, according to the DCI.

The article said of changes that have occurred since Fabian: ?(T)his traditional, semitropical getaway has an enhanced hospitality infrastructure more modern and vibrant than before Fabian blew in.?

The Department of Tourism?s manager of group and incentive sales in the US, Arthur Lugo, was interviewed for the article.

He said despite major changes, ?the basic qualities that have been attracting travellers to Bermuda for generations? can still be found.

Ms. Webb said: ?I am very pleased that Bermuda continues to get good coverage in major publications.

?These articles are very positive and complimentary and give us great exposure... we have been featured in close to a dozen major US publications already this year.?

?Such acknowledgements reinforce the fact that we have a very strong product, which is being rediscovered by the rest of the world.?
