Making you a better leader
The Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation is offering a course to boost the leadership skills of anyone working with young people.
The course began last week and will run twice a week at the Bermuda College until December.
The goals of the course are to upgrade leadership skills while providing a better understanding of the issues young people face.
The course is currently full with 15 people participating.
Calvin Ming, of the Department of Youth and Sport, said he was impressed with the varied backgrounds of participants which included teachers, youth workers and law enforcement personnel.
The three levels of the course will focus on learning styles, the importance of self-assessment, problem solving, youth issues and theories behind successful leadership.
The course will also explore effective ways to develop and communicate with the Island's youth.
The participants will also be expected to complete an internship with a youth organisation or project.
Mr. Ming said there were still spots available for the next course in January and anyone interested should contact him on 295-0855.
