The man believed to have slashed a young woman across her face and neck as she rode in the rain last week was brought before the court yesterday.

The 28-year-old man was remanded in custody after being charged with wounding with intent to disfigure a woman who was riding her motorcycle.

Eli Hill, of Khyber Pass, Warwick was charged with wounding a woman on October 30 as she rode her motorcycle on Middle Road near the junction of Longford Road in Warwick.

In Magistrates' Court yesterday, Hill was led into court by three Police officers, who had to restrain him while walking into the court room.

He spat on a Royal Gazette photographer and put up his middle fingers at the camera.

Once in court Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves repeatedly told Hill to stand up. Hill replied eventually: “I got bad legs, ‘dawg'.”

Unrepresented, Hill did not have to enter a plea to the indictable charges.

Police reported that on October 30 a woman was attacked as due to rainy weather she was riding very slowly. The assailant lashed out at her striking her in the face and neck with an unidentified object that knocked her off her motorcycle.

The woman suffered serious cuts to her face and neck and received plastic surgery over the weekend for her injuries. She is currently in stable condition in general ward of the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Greaves remanded Hill in custody until November 12.
