A man who went on a cursing tirade in Magistrates' Court was remanded in custody until later this summer.

Troy Robinson, 34, of Anchorage Road, St. George's, appeared last week before Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves after he had failed to come to court on May 15 to answer charges of resisting arrest and using offensive words.

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman said that on January 11, Robinson put up a struggle when two Police officer attempted to arrest him and he told the female officer that he was going to "f*** the bitch up."

After entering not guilty pleas, Robinson explained that there seemed to be confusion between the court as to when he was to stand trial; he believed he was due to appear on June 5.

When Mr. Greaves read notes from the file which stated that the trial was to begin on May 15, Robinson began cursing under his breath and said: "I'm not intellectually bankrupt. I know what I heard."

Told by the judge that he was being remanded until his new trial date, he cursed several times and added: "I've got a job and I've got child support to deal with!"

Although Robinson was cautioned by officers of the court to quiet down, he refused and continued to harangue the judge with obscenities.

Mr. Greaves told the man that initially he had intended to remand him for two days but his behaviour was out of order. He warned him: "Cuss again before I write a date in this book."

Robinson's trial date was set for July 8.
