Police responded to a report that a man was on fire on Union Street yesterday evening at 6 p.m.

The 65-year-old man caught fire near the Bermuda Industrial Union, the flames were doused by a member of the public.

A Police spokesman said the origin of the fire was not yet known and investigations were underway. The man sustained second degree burns to his back and buttocks.

He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was still in the emergency room at press time.
