A man with a track record of stealing was jailed for three years yesterday after pleading guilty to multiple charges of theft, forgery and escaping from custody.

Carlton Eugene Minors, 35, of St. George's, was charged with stealing $4,211 of electrical equipment from Telford Electric on June 5. He pleaded guilty to the charge. He was also charged with stealing a cheque book belonging to Tania Simmons between March 23 and April 12. He was charged with forging several cheques to a total value of $1,750 with false signatures in the name of Tania Simons and William Burrows.

Minors was also charged with stealing a cement mixer and a compressor from SAL.

He was also charged with escaping from custody at the Somerset Police Station where he was detained on suspicion of the crimes.

Acting Senior Magistrate William Francis sentenced Minors to a total of three years for stealing, theft, and forgery. Minors also paid the court $300 in traffic fines.
