Man released on bail

A Somerset man facing firearms charges was yesterday released from Magistrates? Court on $20,000 bail.

Dion Bassett, 26, has been charged with allegedly importing 38 live rounds of ammunition into Bermuda.

He is also charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis, a digital scale, obstruction of justice, assaults on three different Police officers, and escaping lawful custody.

Bassett has not been required to plead to the charges, which will be tried in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Edward King granted bail and ordered Bassett to surrender all his travel documents.

He was also ordered to and report to Hamilton Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
