Man robbed at knife-point

A man was robbed at knife-point on a Hamilton Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.A Police spokesman said the 29-year-old victim said he was travelling along Church Street near the Youth Library when someone flagged him down.When he pulled over the suspect pulled out a seven-inch knife and demanded cash. The robber told the man to get out of his car and withdraw money from a nearby cash machine.

A man was robbed at knife-point on a Hamilton Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A Police spokesman said the 29-year-old victim said he was travelling along Church Street near the Youth Library when someone flagged him down.

When he pulled over the suspect pulled out a seven-inch knife and demanded cash. The robber told the man to get out of his car and withdraw money from a nearby cash machine.

The suspect then grabbed the $100 and ran off towards Court Street.

The suspect is described as being a black male, weighing about 175 pounds, clean shaven with a bald head. He was wearing a red, white and blue jacket, blue jeans with holes in them, white sneakers and is thought to be in his early 20s.

Police are appealing for witnesses of this incident or anyone with information to telephone Hamilton CID on 295-0011.

There were 19 accidents at the weekend with three resulting in injury.

A Police spokesman said the other 16 collisions were damage only.

The spokesman added that two people were also arrested for driving under the influence.
