A Warwick man watched in horror as his car rolled off the dock into the sea yesterday morning.

The 43-year-old said he drove the car to Darrell's Wharf on Harbour Road, Warwick to use the public pay phone at around 1 a.m.

However, as he was about to use the phone, he saw the car roll into the ocean. Marine Police subsequently recovered the car with the assistance of an Island Construction crane.

Police are also investigating a vehicle fire around two hours later at the Devonshire Recreation Club on Frog Lane.

On arrival officers observed a green Daihatsu jeep engulfed in flames. Fire Service crews extinguished the blaze which caused extensive damage to the vehicle. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
