Man who broke restraining order is `a real stupid idiot'
A man who broke a restraining order was given another chance and told to stay away from his ex-wife in Magistrates' Court on Friday.
Walter Forbes, 43, of North Shore Road, Pembroke pleaded guilty to breaching a domestic protection order on both April 29 and May 3 of this year.
He said his wife had asked him to come over and after he had arrived, told him that he had to go.
Forbes said: "I was hungry, tired and I went over when she called. I also telephoned to apologise to her, but she took it the wrong way, she tells a lot of lies."
Forbes also explained that he still paid half of the rent for their Bermuda Housing Corporation apartment.
Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves said: "Why are you still paying half the rent - do you and the lady have children? You don't have chick nor child, can't you see you're being used, you are a real stupid idiot."
Mr. Greaves told Forbes to find his own place to rent and explained to him that his wife doesn't want to see him, "she just wants you to come and bring the money".
Mr. Greaves warned Forbes that if he ever went near his wife again he would jail him for twelve months and for twelve months again.
