Martin Luther King III speaks on diversity at annual BIU banquet
The son of legendary civil rights campaigner Martin Luther King Jr. was due to speak at the Bermuda Industrial Union?s 25th annual Labour Day banquet late last night.
Martin Luther King III joined another American civil rights activist, Al Sharpton, on the bill for the event at the Fairmont Southampton Princess resort.
Dr. King was born in 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama, and is the son of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
He told a press conference yesterday afternoon: ?It?s a wonderful pleasure and privilege to be here on this beautiful Island.?
With the theme of the event this year being ?diversity?, Dr. King said he would be talking during his speech about ?the human rights challenges existing in our world,? as well as ?how we must embrace diversity.?
