Two armed robbers held up a terrified female front desk worker at Grotto Bay Beach Hotel on Tuesday night.

The masked robbers, one armed with a machete and the other with a knife, burst into the Hamilton Parish hotel at 11 p.m., handed the woman a bag, and told her to fill it with cash.

The woman screamed to another colleague to call Police, while she filled the bag with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A third accomplice was waiting outside and all three escaped immediately afterwards.

Police raided a house in Summit View Drive, Hamilton Parish, in connection with the robbery yesterday afternoon.

Around six unmarked Police cars and a paddy wagon went to the house around 3 p.m. yesterday. A Police spokesman confirmed some people have been questioned about the robbery.

“Police were in the area following leads as pertains to the robbery that took place at Grotto Bay Beach Hotel,” said the Police spokesman.

“We are questioning individuals that may be able to furnish the Police with information as to what may have occurred.”

Police said they are looking for three dark skinned men in connection with the Grotto Bay robbery.

The machete-wielding robber is described as five feet, ten inches tall, wearing a dark blue sweat top, a fencing-like white mask, and a black helmet.

The robber with the knife was wearing a light coloured shirt, with a black helmet and stocking over his face.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the three men near the hotel or Blue Hill area, or between the Perfume Factory and the hotel, between 11 p.m. and midnight on Tuesday to call Ch. Insp. Stuart Crockwell on 299 4315 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.

Clyde Darrell, the resident manager at Grotto Bay, refused to comment yesterday, other than to say: “There was an incident last night and it is being investigated by the Police.”
