Maybe he should have just knocked

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner had no patience this week for a man who took a hammer to a noisy neighbour?s door.

Alvon James Brangman, of Cherry Hill Park, Paget, admitted that he caused damage to his neighbour?s door on December 19, 2004.

He told Mr. Warner the woman drove him crazy because she was constantly making a racket above him.

Brangman said he is recently divorced, taking nerve pills and had reached his wit?s end with his neighbour.

He showed the court a light fixture that he alleged fell from his ceiling because of the woman?s constant banging.

He said she moves things around her residence at all hours of the night.

Brangman said he even went to the lady?s minister to ask for help because he was so distraught but his arguments failed to move the magistrate.

?Nothing you have said today impresses me,? said Mr. Warner.

He fined Brangman $500 and told him to compensate the woman $1,650 for the new door she had to install.

Mr. Warner suggested Brangman should head to St. Brendan?s ? which is now known as the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute ? if this woman is causing him so much mental anguish.

He ordered Brangman to pay his fine and compensation by June 30 or spend three months at Westgate.
