Sonia Grant and Sutherland Madeiros will battle it out to be the Mayor of Hamilton, it was confirmed last night. Corporation of Hamilton secretary Kelly Miller said that Ms Grant and Mr. Madeiros had put forward their names as candidates for the office of Mayor, left vacant after the death of Jay Bluck.

The closing date for nominations was yesterday and an election will now be held at City Hall on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters must have been registered on the municipal register on October 5, and should bring photographic identification with them.
