Men victims of machete attack

Two men were attacked by a group of machete-wielding thugs while they watched TV on Wednesday night.

The men, aged 41 and 47, were watching TV in old stables on their Controversy Lane residence when a car drove up.

Three men jumped out of the car and attacked the two men with machetes.

Both men were injured during the attack, sustaining deep lacerations to their heads and arms. After wounding the men, the attackers left the Pembroke residence.

Police arrived at the scene of the incident at 10 p.m. and took the victims to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where they were treated for their injuries, which are not considered to be life threatening.

Police are investigating the incident.

A Police spokesman said that currently there is no information that points to the incident being gang-related but that it is believed that the men had a previous relationship with their alleged attackers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 295-0011.
