Tropical Storm Mindy was downgraded to a depression last night and was not expected to have any great impact on Bermuda.

It was feared that Mindy would hit the Island later today with high winds and rain, but, as of yesterday, her power was weakening and a trough coming off the US Coast had pushed her further to Bermuda's east.

Bermuda Weather Service meteorologist Ian Currie said Mindy was originally expected to have passed just ten miles past Bermuda, but the forecast last night predicted she would now be at her closest point at 4 p.m. tomorrow, when she will be 140 nautical miles away.

He said: "Things can always change, but at the moment, it's pretty good the way it's looking."

A frontal system associated with the trough from the US coast was expected to bring rain overnight last night and into this morning, but good weather is expected later in the week.
