Minister for Labour and Home Affairs Randolph Horton has ordered a probe into how an inmate managed to escape from the Prison Farm on Tuesday.

Former convicted robber Andre Anthony Tucker, 22, who was serving a sentence this time for breaking and entering, managed to break out from the Ferry Reach corrections facility in the early hours.

He is described as five foot nine inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, and with a light complexion and a close hair cut.

Mr. Horton said last night that he was not considered dangerous.

A team of prisons and Police staff have been searching for Tucker, and Police spokesman Dwayne Caines reminded the public that it was an offence to aid and abet an escaped prisoner.

Mr. Horton said although the escape was not made public until yesterday, both Police and the Prison authorities were searching for Tucker at the earliest opportunity.

He said: "We have been looking for him. The Police were contacted at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday and they posted the information out on the Police communications system. The Police were well aware that this young man was out.

"I have not been able to determine how he got out yet, but I have inquired into that. We are looking into why he was able to escape."
