Minister takes five staff to Cayman show

Environment Minister Neletha Butterfield and five of her technical officers attended the ?Fourth Annual Sister Islands Agriculture Show? in the Cayman Islands, on May 13, a spokesman said on Tuesday.

A Ministry spokesman said yesterday the Bermuda contingent went to Cayman this month by invitation from the Leader of Government Business of the Cayman Islands ? who also has responsibility for Cayman?s Ministry of District Administration, Planning, Agriculture and Housing? during his recent visit to Bermuda.

?The Bermuda delegation was impressed by the culture and heritage exhibits on display as well as the usage of the ?Bluff? as the grounds for the Show,? the spokesman said.

He said the local technical officers who attended the Cayman Agricultural Show were ? Director of Parks Lisa Johnson, Exhibition Planner (Parks) Georgette Caines, Livestock Technician (Environmental Protection) Caroldey Douglas, Administrative Assistant (Conservation Services) Pam Wade and Administrative Assistant, (Ministry Headquarters) Beverley Tavares.

The Bermuda presence was noted by Cayman Net News lastFriday.

?Joining the Cayman Islands dignitaries for the opening ceremony was a contingent from Bermuda (where they have recently celebrated their 68th Annual Agricultural Exhibition) headed by Minister of the Environment, the Hon Neletha Butterfield,? it said.

Cayman Net News said Members of the Legislative Assembly Julianna O?Connor Connolly and Moses Kirkconnell of Sister Islands Cayman Brac and Little Cayman also spoke at the opening ceremony.
