Almost two weeks after being offered the post of Shadow Telecommunications Minister, Opposition MP Trevor Moniz has still not decided whether to accept.

The maverick MP was unhappy that he had not been offered a more high profile portfolio after the election defeat.

He left on holiday after the July 24 poll and was offered the post by United Bermuda Party leader Dr. Grant Gibbons on returning two weeks ago.

Last night Dr Gibbons told The Royal Gazette: "I had a quick chat with him today and hopefully we will sort it out in the next few days or soon.

"He was away and I was away at the beginning of last week and the tail end of the previous week. We touched base and hopefully we will be able to sort it out.

"We have not really had a good discussion. We have touched base briefly and and hopefully we will be able to sort it out in due course.

"He was away and I was unable to get a hold of him. The issue was before that I haven't had the chance to talk to him about it and until we had that good discussion I was not prepared to say which way he would go."

Mr. Moniz, who could not be contacted last night, told The Royal Gazette last week: "It is not an area that is top of my list of desirable ministries or the top of anyone's list, obviously. That's why it was left over."
