The roar of more than 200 classic motorcycles filled the air at City Hall car park and along the Island?s roads yesterday afternoon.

The charity ride to the Causeway was organised by the Bermuda Low Riders Club to raise funds for the children and grandchildren of the four victims of Hurricane Fabian.

Riders on Triumphs, Revels, Honda Shadows, Qian?s, Rebels, Kymcos, Huskys, Yamaha Dragstars, Simskis and numerous other bikes thought it was for a good cause ? so they rode.

The victims were P.c. Stephen Symons, P.c. Nicole O?Connor, Gladys Saunders and fisherman Manuel Pacheco.

The son of the late Mr. Symons, Stephen Jr., rode pillion on Police spokesman Dwayne Caines? bike.

Once on the Causeway there was a prayer, Al Woods played a heartfelt saxophone rendition of Amazing Grace, short speeches and tributes were followed by a minute of engines revving and roaring.

Stephen Jr. threw in the first of five wreaths in remembrance of his father and the other victims.

Police Commissioner Jonathan Smith thanked all the motorcyclists for their decision to support the children.

The mother of StephenSymons, Rozzie Symons, thanked everyone on behalf of her family.

One of the organisers of the charity ride said it was the largest that he had ever seen.
