Motorist goes against the flow

Police were alerted to a drunk driver when he failed to stop at a stop sign in St. George's on Friday night.

A Police spokesman said officers followed the rider in a marked Police vehicle after they noticed that he was riding erratically in the opposite lane against the flow of the traffic.

Officers stopped him on York Street near the St. George's Liquor Store.

The rider stumbled a few times as he attempted to put his bike on the stand and officers smelled liquor on his breath.

When officers asked if he had been drinking, he admitted to "having a few".

He was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police station, where he failed a breath test.

He was searched and detained and it was discovered that his motor cycle was not licensed or insured.
