Motorists driving through Flatts this week can rest easy: The giant snake sitting in the garden adjacent to the Aquarium won't bite.

The scaly papier-m?ch? prop is part of the promotion for the Bermuda Zoological Society's (BZS) annual open day on Saturday.

In the theme of this year's festivities Reptile Rap - scaly critters will be making appearances throughout the Island this week, with morning commuters being greeted tomorrow by an alligator and turtle waving from the Flatts' intersection.

Open Day runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and feature activities ranging from craft making and games to entertainment. Visitors will even be able to meet some reptiles, all a part of the BZS's Reptile Rap theme.

"We will have animal encounters where visitors can get up close and personal with some of our reptiles and activities for all ages" said Joanne Chisnall, volunteer coordinator at BZS.

Admission to the Aquarium and Zoo will be free for this event.
