MPs set to debate Opposition motion

The need for anti-corruption legislation in Bermuda will be the principle topic under discussion in the House of Assembly today, as a take note motion from Opposition Leader Grant Gibbons reaches the floor.

The exact motion to be debated reads: "That this Honourable House take note of the anti-corruption legislation of other jurisdictions, in particular, The Corruption Prevention Act of Jamaica and consider the benefits of enacting similar legislation in Bermuda."

Two relatively minor bills from the Ministry of Finance, including the Overseas Partnerships Amendment Act 2005 and the Exempted Partnerships Amendment Act 2005, will be debated.
