MPs to debate big pay rises
Two items are on the agenda today for MPs sitting in the House of Assembly ? including the hot topic of politicians giving themselves big pay rises.
Premier Alex Scott is due to discuss the issue, which if passed, could see his annual salary rise to $200,000. Full-time Ministers, meanwhile, would pick up $150,000.
The other item up for discussion relates to updating complaint procedures against medical workers.
Debate on the Medical Practitioners Amendment Act stalled last week after Opposition MPs spotted inconsistencies in the new legislation, addressing the problem of medical practitioners being unfit for work through drink or drugs.
The flawed draft was sent back to be re-written and Health Minister Patrice Minors is due to introduce it again today. It aims to create a new, simplified complaints procedure against medical practitioners.
