The National Equestrian Centre is on the agenda for discussion at The National Trust?s environmental community meeting next Monday.

Trust conservation officer Peter Drew confirmed that the centre will be discussed but declined to comment further.

?The meeting will take place on December 8 but I can not give you anymore information until after the meeting,? he said.

The president of the Bermuda Equestrian Federation, Michael Cherry, said: ?I was not aware that the National Trust will be discussing the Equestrian Centre. Maybe they are speculating that plans for development are on the way.

?At the present nothing is happening with the application process but there is always talk.

?A plan was submitted in the past but it was denied because of the park land in the area. Environmentally it is a problem. We are all environmentally conscious of the impact.?

Minister Dale Butler told I have encouraged the equestrian federation to come in and make a formal proposal to expand the facility but they have not yet.

?Many horse people have talked to me about it. But they must make a formal proposal to go before Cabinet before anything can happen.?
