An American bulldog is terrorising a Scenic Heights, Southampton neighbourhood and one resident is demanding that something be done about it.

Carlos Caisey told The Royal Gazette that the owners of an open piece of land leave their American bulldog in a kennel at the back of the land.

But Mr. Caisey said the dog is constantly breaking loose from his kennel and that he has been trained to attack.

"I feel like a prisoner in my own neighbourhood. I'm worried about this dog attacking my children or someone else's children," he said.

Mr. Caisey said the owners of the property are about to build on the land and keep their dog there to stop trespassers.

The dog has not hurt anyone yet, but Mr. Caisey hopes something can be done to prevent future problems.

"In Bermuda, people don't react until something horrible happens," he said. "It's not the dog's fault that the owner has trained him to attack so he needs to take responsibility and take the dog where it can be supervised."

He added that he didn't want his children to be afraid of dogs, but this dog is able to break out of its cage so his children are in danger.

He also fears for his own safety after the dog came after him early one morning.

"I just want the owners to take the dog away. When they finish building they can bring it back to live there so then they can take care of it if he gets loose."
