New fare system for buses, ferries

A one-fare system will be instituted for passengers of the Island's bus and ferry system starting on Monday. Cash will no longer be accepted and passengers will be required to use tokens, tickets or passes. "It is our hope that we can make this transition with minimal inconvenience and are advising the public that tokens and passes are good for use on both ferries and buses," Marine and Ports director designate Francis Richardson said yesterday. The passes, tokens and tickets can be purchased at the ferry terminal, post offices, visitor bureaus, the Craft Market in Dockyard and St. George's Liquors. Port Royal Esso Gas Station and the Aquarium will only sell ferry tokens.
