Bermuda Waterworks Ltd. have been given the green light to build a 750,000 gallon drinking water reservoir at Parsons Lane in Devonshire.
The Department of Planning, which approved the application on July 28, has stipulated that the company must adequately control and dispose of the water run-off so that nearby homes and roads are protected from flooding.
The company must also erect a fence to protect the site and trees damaged during the construction of the reservoir are to be replaced by endemic trees or shrubs.
CEO of Bermuda Waterworks Limited Allan Rance was unavailable for comment.
