No comment from Police on student rape rumour
A Warwick middle school student is believed to have been the victim of a gang rape on Wednesday afternoon, The Royal Gazette has learned.
Sources told The Royal Gazette that the girl was attacked in the library of the Spice Valley Middle school and raped by two of her male peers.
As the alleged rape took place, a crowd of other students was said to have watched the violent crime impassively.
Yesterday, however, Police refused to confirm the account of the rape or whether there was an investigation into the matter.
"The Bermuda Police Service is not prepared to comment on that specific matter at this juncture," Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said.
Attempts to contact school principal Dawnelle Walker were unsuccessful last night.
The Royal Gazette understands, however, that the two boys alleged to have raped the young woman have been placed on school suspension.
It appears that no action was taken against the spectators who did nothing to aid their fellow student.
