Seventy percent of respondents to an Internet poll feel that Premier Jennifer Smith should resign.

The unscientific poll, conducted from last Tuesday to last Friday on The Royal Gazette's Internet site, www.theroyalgazette.com, saw 435 people respond. Of that number, 70.3 percent said "yes" to the question "Should Premier Jennifer Smith resign", 19.5 percent said "no" and 10.1 percent said they did not know.

Ms Smith survived a leadership vote in the PLP caucus two weeks ago when the result was a nine-nine tie. But a series of scandals are seen as having hurt her position and a number of backbenchers appear hostile to her continued leadership.
