Our dream has finally come true!

An American couple who missed their Bermuda wedding when their cruise ship was abruptly re-routed to Canada by Tropical Storm Franklyn are finally getting their day in the sun.

Lauren Correa and her future husband, sous chef Peter Sikoryak, will be exchanging vows tonight on a South Shore Beach ? compliments of the Bermuda Department of Tourism and the Fairmont Southampton Resort.

The couple and their 30 wedding guests were heading to Bermuda on July 24 on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, which changed course due to Tropical Storm Franklin. The abrupt switch forced the couple to miss their romantic date on a beach at a cost of thousands of dollars.

Their cancelled plans were publicised extensively in the United States, including NBC's Today Show and the New York Post.

In fact, their heartbreaking tale struck a chord not only in the US, but also in Bermuda.

The Minister of Tourism and Transport, Dr. Ewart Brown, read about their plight and decided to assist the couple in making their dreams come true.

The 30-year-old bride-to-be said she was "absolutely thrilled".

"They felt horrible about what happened to us and contacted me and said they wanted to send us to Bermuda to give us our ceremony."

"We're just so happy that there are good people in the world that are going out of their way to give us our dream wedding" she said.
