An Island hotel is being featured on a popular travel website - with accompanying photographs not taken in Bermuda.

The website - expedia .com, which is run by Expedia Inc, the fourth largest travel agency in the US - is promoting the Harmony Club resort in Paget. Travellers can book a flight and a hotel online and view an archive of photographs of hotel scenery before booking their trip down to the last detail.

A glowing write-up on the website describes the Paget property as "a tranquil, all inclusive garden resort one mile from a beautiful pink sand beach". The copy is accompanied by a photo of an outdoor dining table on the water's edge overlooking a harbour and hillside. Another photo shows a woman lounging on a deck chair outside a cottage resort in a harbour which closely resembles a Caribbean island.

When contacted by The Royal Gazette yesterday, hotel manager Billy Griffith agreed that the photos were not of The Harmony Club - and had not even been taken in Bermuda.

He put the error down to a technical glitch and added that he had had no complaints from guests who had booked through the website.

"I get hundreds of room nights of business from expedia," he said. "These things happen occasionally."

An Expedia Inc spokeswoman yesterday said the company would be withdrawing the erroneous photographs after being alerted to the mistake by Mr. Griffith.

She refused to comment as to how they got there and which island they depicted but added that hotel owners were responsible for sending photos and an information package about their hotel to the website.
