Citizens will take the law into their own hands if Government doesn't get a grip on East End crime said National Liberal Party Spokesman Graeme Outerbridge.

He attacked Public Safety Minister Terry Lister for his softly softly approach after recent car torchings in St. George's.

He said: "If this Government wants civil order it had better stop being selective over which laws it wants to enforce.

"People will start to follow their terrible example and act in the need of protecting their own property and interests without a care for the law."He said the Police were hamstrung by the Progressive Labour Party's soft approach but mitigating factors behind crime should be left for judges to decide. Mr. Outerbridge attacked the Premier for her U-turn on moving the St. George's police station to Southside which he said was based on the need to secure votes in her home seat.
