Two Police officers were promoted this week.

Michael Jackman was promoted to Chief Inspector. He hails from Barbados and arrived in Bermuda in 1982. He was first posted to the St. George's Police Station and worked there until 1985, then spent the next eight years at the Traffic Department.

He also worked in the Community and Juvenile Services Department and the Central and Western Parish Constable units.

In 1995 he was promoted to Sergeant and chaired the Bermuda Police Association from 1997 to 2000. In 2001 he was promoted to Inspector and has been in charged of the Research, Development and Innovation Unit since then.

Chief Inspector Jackman will be posted to the Training Department as the officer in charge, were he will oversee recruiting and training.

Paul Wright was promoted to Detective Chief Inspector. He served with the Humberside Police in England for five years before joining the Bermuda Police Service in 1985.

In Bermuda he has worked in Central and Eastern Uniform, Central CID and Traffic and Motorcycle patrol. In 1991 he was appointed to the post of Assistant Government Security Officer, where he served for four years. In 1997, while serving in the Crime Prevention Unit, he was promoted to Sergeant. And later that year moved on to become Head of Special Branch.

In 2001 he was promoted to Inspector and assumed responsibility for the Government Security Office. Detective Chief Inspector Wright now holds the post of Crime Manager within the Crime Support Division.
