The owner of the former Plantation Restaurant/Leamington Cave site is looking to begin phase two of a project which will see a new five-dwelling-unit complex built on the vacant site.

However the application has been deferred by the Development Applications Board (DAB).

It is not the first time the proposed development has been stalled. In March, 2001 after more than three years, the Leamington Plantation Company won its appeal for permission to demolish the restaurant building. It was then that phase one of the project was able to begin.

Phase two sees a new two-storey structure that will be 22 feet away from the surrounding nature reserve.

On the ground level there will be two, two-bedroom units while the third unit will extend to the upper level.

The second level will also feature two, two-bedroom units with balconies and amenity space.Amenity space will be placed to the north and south of the building with parking for seven cars and each upper level unit will feature a welcoming area stair which will lead to private entrances.

Conservation zoning on the site requires that the new building be nine feet, four inches from an existing rock-cut.
