Police are hunting a gun-wielding man as they predict more arrests following Sunday?s violence at Wellington Oval.

Ten arrests have been made by Police boosted by information and photos from members of the public who witnessed the sickening scenes which disrupted the Friendship Trophy final.

Police have promised a zero-tolerance approach as they go after other individuals involved in the melee and 50 officers are working on the case.

Police Commissioner Jonathan Smith told a Press conference: ?Good progress has been made, ten arrests have been made and we anticipate making more arrests in the coming days.?

Sunday?s final was between Somerset Eagles and North Village but elements from Ord Road, Paget have also been linked to the trouble.

Mr. Smith said generally Police had intelligence on risky situations but it was too early to say why information had not come through in time to prevent Sunday?s madness.

The violence could have been spontaneous, said Mr. Smith.

But, when asked if there had been a failure of intelligence, Home Affairs and Public Safety Minister Randy Horton : ?It obviously was. We are looking at why we didn?t have that intelligence.?

A number of weapons have been recovered, said Mr. Smith. ?We have recovered machetes, knives and other sharp-edged weapons we believe were connected with events.

?We continue to interview men in custody. We are very grateful for the support we are getting from members of the community.

?Some have turned in video evidence and photographs. Our officers are examining those videos and photographs and, together with eyewitness accounts, we intend on presenting those case files going to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

?Our strategy in this case is very straightforward. For every person we can identify committing a public order offence, criminal offence or weapons offence we will be recommending charges to the DPP.

?It needs to be made clear to the public that the full resources of the Bermuda Police Service are being deployed in an effort to identify these men and obtain evidence to present to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

?We are in possession of reliable evidence that a firearm was also present during the commission of criminal offences at the St. George?s Cricket club (on Sunday) afternoon.?

He said Police were trying to recover that weapon and arrest those who had it.

Acting Superintendent Stuart Crockwell, who is heading the investigation, said zero tolerance would be given to the thugs.

?We now know the majority of individuals that participated in the incident,? he said.

?There will be other arrests in the next 24 to 48 hours.?

He said the assistance from the community had been tremendous but he urged those who had not yet come forward to do so.

He confirmed the three attacked men were pressing charges.

Mr. Horton said there were no immediate plans to revive the weapons amnesty which last winter had netted various firearms and weapons.

It had been set up following violence at a White Hill Field concert where a firearm was brandished during massive public disturbances.
