Police issue clarification on MV Bermudian fracas

Police yesterday said the initial fight which sparked a riot on board a Friday night booze cruise was not gang related.

However, they confirmed that the riot which followed on the was related to rival factions of the Town and Country gangs.

Police are also still appealing for witnesses to the incident, which left a 20-year-old Southampton woman in hospital with a collapsed lung, to come forward.

?The Bermuda Police Service would like to clarify a specific incident as it relates to the fracas onboard the on Friday, July 1,? Police said yesterday. ?There is no specific information to suggest the ?initial? fight between the females on the boat was related to gangs.?

The statement went on to say, however: ?(T)he same cannot be said for the subsequent series of activities that took place that evening.?
