Police are investigating a possible arson at a Pembroke pre-school.

A structural fire broke out at the basement of the residence, out of which the Creative Touch Pre-School is run at 4.51 p.m. on Tuesday.

Two vehicles and five trucks were sent to put out the blaze which took approximately 25 minutes to get under control.

The school had ten children in session when the fire started. A neighbour alerted the school supervisor when smoke was seen billowing out of a basement window.

A fire department spokesperson confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident. The estimated cost of damage is $3,000.
