Police warn about bogus workmen

Police are reminding the public to be on their guard after a householder was conned out of $1,000 by a bogus workman.
Police said the man, who posed as a construction worker, was paid the money in advance to fit windows and blinds at a Burnt House Hill property. That was on September 17, but the next day the man failed to turn up.
A Police spokesman warned the public to get the name of the business, a phone number or any other contact information and also to use someone who was referred to you.
If in doubt contact a Police Station and report the information, he added.
