Football fans celebrating while being driven around on the back of flat-top trucks face fines of $300 Police warned yesterday.

The advisory was sparked by the scenes on the streets of Hamilton following Portugal?s Euro 2004 semi-final win on Wednesday.

A Police statement said: ?The Bermuda Police Service would like to remind fans of the remaining teams in the Euro 2004 football tournament that while enjoying the festivities, any celebrations should not endanger themselves or other members of the public, and should not disrupt traffic flow in any way.

?We would also like to advise members of the public that it is an offence for people to ride in open/flat-bed trucks or any other private vehicle without being in a properly constructed seat.

?While we do not wish to put a damper on fans celebrating their team?s victory, recent incidents have led to this advisory in the interest of safety.?

Under the Road Traffic Act 1947 people breaking this law can be fined $300.
