Prediction by prophetess misses mark

Just in the nick of time, Bermuda has turned its back just on the sin, worship of money, homosexuality and lesbianism which has so alarmed God.

Either that, or the prediction made by a prophetess that the Island would be wiped out by a tidal wave unless it repented was a bit off the mark.

More than a month ago prophetess Alicia Perry alarmed the Island when she revealed she had told Premier Jennifer Smith in a private meeting that Bermuda would face death and destruction unless it turned against sin.

In the Bermuda Sun, the prophetess who had been speaking at Wings of Love ministries, called for a 30 day fasting period from her time of meeting the Premier to put off the calamity.

The news sparked doom, hilarity, and - inevitably - questions about whether the American mystic had a worked permit.

But the threatened Tsunami has failed to materialise, leaving all of Bermuda to heave a huge sigh of relief.

Ms Perry told the Sun in April: "At this point the Lord is very, very angry with the people in Bermuda. What he said to me was a prophetic word to the nation, that unless Bermuda repents, he is going to send his judgment in the form of a Tsunami.

"The Lord has given me a vision of the destruction. I don't know the number, but there was a huge loss of life in my vision. People are going to actually die because they are blinded.

"The lawlessness and perversion that is here; people are going their own way such as homosexuality and lesbianism and people are setting up idols and worshipping money, which is going against the very council of God."

The Royal Gazette was told yesterday Ms Perry has left the Island and her telephone number is not listed in her hometown of Washington D.C.
