Premier Jennifer Smith said she wished to silence the "mischief" over the planned move of St. George's Police Station to Southside.

In Parliament on Friday, she said contrary to many rumours, St. George's Police station had not yet closed and nothing had changed over the deployment of officers.

She said: "I think it important to advise the public that the Eastern Division of Bermuda Police Service has not moved to Southside.

"Nothing has changed at all concerning the policing of St. George's. No one has moved and nothing has changed with the number of people present there."

She said the way she had heard people talk was as though St. George's no longer had its own Police station.

She added: "The Police Station will remain (in St. George's) once the Eastern Division is relocated to Southside.

"Reassurance has been given over and over again. People want to make mischief and act as though the move has already happened."

She said while there is some crime in St. George's it is not all related to people from St. George's.
