Premier Jennifer Smith will not be travelling to an upcoming IMF meeting in the Caribbean.

"They're opening some centre in the Caribbean and they've invited me but I'm not going," she said.

Last week, the premier said on VSB's late night talk show, Night Talk, that she would take the matter up with her cabinet and "if they decide I should go I'll take the criticism".

And Ms Smith has assured The Royal Gazette that she is not biased against the print media in talking to the general public.

In a brief post press conference discussion yesterday, she said that she would be happy to grant an interview with this newspaper in "two or three weeks time."

Asked if she had a preference for the electronic media, she said jokingly: "I wouldn't say that - they're very kind. I have a preference for kind people."

Asked whether a cabinet reshuffle was imminent, the premier said: "You tell me. That's how I get my news I find out what I'm doing from you all."

Unconfirmed reports have been circulating that Ms Smith will announce a cabinet shuffle early next week when some Ministers will exchange portfolios.

It is expected by some observers that David Allen, the Progressive Labour Party's first Tourism Minister will be moved to another cabinet seat and Transport Minister Dr. Ewart Brown will go to Tourism.
