Premier, Slayton going to US next month

Premier Alex Scott and US Consul General Gregory Slayton will head off to Washington DC next month for the first-ever official bilateral visit.

In what is being hailed as pioneering diplomatic achievement the pair will be in the US capitol on May 17 and 18.

Premier Scott and Consul General Slayton will talk about the genesis of the idea and release details of their agenda at a press conference next week.

Bermuda has come under fire from politicians in the US in recent years including from failed presidential hopeful John Kerry who slated Bermuda for taking US capital.

However Mr. Slayton recently revealed he has stuck up for the island and defended its reputation at high level meetings with Washington shakers and movers.
