Prosecutors have issued a writ against convicted drug dealer Kirk Roberts which is understood to be designed to stop him selling any of his assets.

Roberts, 40, was jailed for ten years last year after being convicted at Supreme Court of conspiracy to import 200 pounds of marijuana.

When he was convicted last August, it was announced in court the Crown would be seeking to confiscate Roberts' assets - including real estate, his boat yard, boats, vehicles, and monies held in trust - under the Proceeds of Crime Act 1997.

A writ was issued against against Roberts, 40, of West Side Road, Sandys, in October last year under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

And on June 9, Director of Public Prosecutions Kulandra Ratneser issued another writ against Roberts under the same legislation.

It is understood this writ is to stop Roberts from selling any of his assets.

Lawyers for Roberts argued at the Court of Appeal earlier this month to try to get his conviction quashed on the grounds that he allegedly did not get a fair trial.

His lawyers argued details of an immunity deal given to admitted drug dealer and key witness Heinz Golombeck were not disclosed by the Department of Public Prosecutions.

But the DPP's office argued there was nothing improper in the way the case was heard and the Court of Appeal has still to deliver a ruling.
