Pubs count the cost of Goater's move

Shaun Goater (at right)grabbed the all important first goal for his new club Reading at the weekend but his move to the English Division One side does have a downside - it could cost Bermudian bars hundreds of dollars in lost drinkers.

The striker left Premiership side Manchester City at the end of last season after a long and distinguished career which many witnessed on the screens of Bermudian pubs.

But new side Reading, one league below City, receive nowhere near as much exposure via the international satellite channels, meaning many football fans will be robbed of a chance to watch their hero perform in technicolour.

Although pubs which screen English football continue to fill up to watch top sides such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, those who in previous years joined the Saturday morning rush to catch a glimpse of the local lad in his City days can no longer do so.
